JD Edwards has a standard function that converts a numeric value into words. The standard function is used within the cheque writing program to ensure the amount in numbers and words are correct. However, the standard function is somewhat "Americanised" and produces the amount in words that is applicable to the American banking system.
This utility ensures that the amount in words, derived from the numeric value passed in, complies with the requirements of the New Zealand banking system as stipulated in the Cheques Act. The utility also returns the output in different lengths depending on how many lines (and the length) of output the form can sustain.
