It has always been an issue that "print immediate" could only be set on or off globally for reports that were run on the JD Edwards enterprise server. Many users only wanted specific reports to be printed immediately whilst other reports awaited review before being selectively printed. This was not possible within the current JD Edwards configuration.
The Print/Email Immediate function has been developed to address this issue. This function is called when a batch job completes successfully. Using the job details, the function uses a combination of user, report, version and environment data, and searches through the default printer table in a set "hierarchy" to see if print immediate is required. If it is required the report is sent to the printer identified in the default printer table.
As an additional feature, reports can be identified to be sent as email attachments. The receiver is derived from the user who initiated the report using current functionality which allows the email address to be held against the Who’s Who record in the Address Book. Optionally for those reports initiated inside the scheduler an address for the recipient can be entered into the default printer table. Additionally, if the output of the report is an Excel object, this too can be emailed to the appropriate user.
